Northwest Asset Finance Limited trading as Northwest Finance (FSP 1012631) respects your privacy and handles your personal information in line with the Privacy Act 2020. This policy explains what we collect through this website - whether you send us a message or apply for finance - why we collect it, who we might share it with, and the rights you have over it.

What information we collect
What we collect depends on how you interact with us.
Contacting us
If you use our contact form, we collect your name, phone number, email address, and whatever you write in your message.
Applying for finance
A loan application asks for a lot more, because we need it to assess your application properly. That includes:
- Personal details - your full legal name, date of birth, current (and, if relevant, previous) address, contact details, and your work or residency status in New Zealand
- Employment and income - your employment status, employer, income, and any additional income sources
- Living costs and banking - your accommodation costs, other financial commitments, and banking details
- Loan details - what you're financing and how much you're looking to borrow
- Supporting documents - your driver licence, your passport, recent payslips, 90 days of bank statements, proof of address, a visa document (where applicable), and an uploaded image of your signature
General site use
We don't use cookies or tracking scripts to identify or follow visitors around this site - see Cookies and analytics below for what we do use.
How we use your information
- To respond to your enquiry
- To assess your loan application, including verifying your identity and the details you've provided
- To obtain credit reports and carry out credit checks, where you've consented to this as part of an application
- To communicate with you about your enquiry, your application, or a complaint
- To meet our obligations as a Registered Financial Service Provider (FSP 1012631), including recordkeeping and regulatory reporting
Who we share it with
We only share your information where it's necessary to do the things above - we don't sell it, and we don't share it for marketing purposes. Depending on your application, that can include:
- Credit reporting agencies, to run the checks you've consented to
- Lenders and finance providers, to arrange and assess finance on your behalf, where you've consented to this
- The technology and email providers that help us receive and process your application securely
- Regulators or dispute-resolution bodies, such as Financial Services Complaints Limited (FSCL), where the law requires it or to help resolve a complaint
How we store and protect it
Information you send us travels over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Documents you upload with an application, such as your licence, payslips, bank statements, and other supporting documents, are securely stored and retained only for as long as necessary to process your application and meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
The details of your application itself (and copies of the documents attached to it) are kept for as long as necessary to process your application and to meet our legal and regulatory obligations as an FSP.
Cookies and analytics
We don't use cookies to track you on this site or elsewhere. We use a privacy-friendly analytics service to understand overall traffic to the site - it doesn't use cookies and can't identify you personally.
If that ever changes, for example, if we add a tool that uses cookies, we will update this policy and ask for your consent wherever the law requires it.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020, you can ask what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it if it's wrong. Contact us using the details below to make a request.
